We made another quick trip over to the Isle of Man this weekend. I say “quick,” but I think we actually had an extra day compared to usual — which made a difference. This time we took the boat. In some ways it’s better: we have our own car, can take more with us, and everything feels...

It might not be a huge distance, but I did at least manage to run along some of the coast path while on the Isle of Man. Last time I was there, I ran the short section from Niarbyl to Peel, so this time I started in Peel — at the exact spot I’d finished....

After an aborted trip a couple of weeks ago, when the plane turned around mid-flight and landed back in Liverpool due to the weather, we tried again at the weekend. This time we flew from Manchester to visit Anna’s mum, Pat. We drove...

Running around the Isle of Man Coast Path has become a slow but steady project. Each trip adds a few more miles, and although I’m moving more slowly these days, the scenery — and the small adventures along the way — make it worth every step. This weekend, with a tweaked back and patchy weather, I managed to tick off another stretch between Niarbyl and Peel.

The last time I was on the Isle of Man I started running around the Coast Path. The Raad Ny Foillan (Way of the Gull) is the island’s premier long-distance path at around 100 miles. Officially opened in 2018 it quickly became one of the most popular walking routes in the British Isles. The path...

I might be that kind of age these days, but I’m not really into steam trains, trams and other vintage railways. Neither is Anna, but that didn’t prevent us from having fun as tourists on the Isle of Man courtesy of the various modes of transport provided by Isle of Man Transport.

As mentioned in an earlier post: As I’ve been gradually running around the coast of Wales, I thought that while I was on the Isle of Man I may as well start running around that as well. At around 100 miles it’s a fair bit shorter than running around Wales and should be achievable even...
