In reply to <a href="https://www.alananna.co.uk/blog/2017/08/pedalling-paddling-dyfi-estuary/#comment-42673">Nicola</a>.

Hi Nicola,
As far as I know there are no restrictions as far as paddling is concerned as it is tidal all the way up to Derwenlas. Stopping on the bank for a break may be different though as the land alongside the estuary will be owned by someone and some of it may be private.
You do of course need to be aware of the tides and weather for safety's sake as the estuary does dry out quite quickly on the ebbing tide which could leave you with quite a walk over sandbanks. Similarly if the tide is running in the opposite direction to that in which you intend to travel you may have problems making headway against it so time your journey well. It is a relatively easy, fairly safe expedition though.

Have fun and stay safe,
Al.

I'd love to canoe from ynyslas to dyfi junction bridge; is it ok for novices and are there any restrictions/rules or can you literally just hop in your canoe and go? Any restrictions on stopping for a break on the bank near ynyshir or Glandyfi? Any tips greatly appreciated.
