Another nice days geocaching for Morgan and I. Morgan wasn’t quite so keen to go out today but I convinced him in the end and we set off for a drive up the valley behind Talybont. We were following a little track that is part of the Devils Bridge to Borth footpath and missed the first cache of the day out by mistake. The second cache, ‘Part Troll’ was a nice quick easy find.<\/p>\n
Back into the car, a Vimto bonbon as a treat for finding the cache and then onto the next cache of the day’ Orc’. This proved to be much harder and after spending ages looking for it we had to give up and continue up the valley, vowing to take another look on the way back down.\u00a0Four of the caches along this trail have clues in them for a final bonus cache and this was one of the ones with a clue, so it was a shame we couldn’t find it.<\/p>\n
We were now on foot and the next cache ‘Hobgoblin’ took a little while to find as well. At least we did find it this time and were able to continue on our way through the farm buildings and onto the next cache ‘Goblin’.\u00a0Morgan found this one in no time at all so we signed the log and continued along the valley looking down on some friends houses on the other side of the river as we went.<\/p>\n
The next cache ‘Snotling’ was the final one along here and once again we couldn’t find it despite being sure we were in the correct place. We stopped for lunch overlooking the valley and then had another search but still no joy. In the end we had to give up and head back down the valley empty handed and with only two of the four codes we needed for the bonus cache.<\/p>\n
We stopped for another look for ‘Orc’ but yet again to no avail. We also stopped to find ‘River Troll’ which we had missed on the way up. Again, this took a while and we were about to give up but eventually we spotted it. Odd really, as it was exactly what we were expecting, but still we didn’t see it for a while.<\/p>\n
With the trip up that valley completed we drove back through Talybont and along the other side of the valley towards Bont Goch. We took a bit of a detour for some off-roading up the Bont Goch descent, a mountain bike trail that I normally ride down. I don’t normally stop whilst hurtling down it though so it was nice to be going in the opposite direction at a more leisurely pace.<\/p>\n
Morgan enjoyed the stream crossings and off-roading and we were soon at another cache with some gorgeous Mid Wales mountain views and a display by the RAF.<\/p>\n
The next couple in this series were quick cache and dashes from the car and both were on the Syfyddrin Trail. The day was finished off with a final stroll to cache ‘G’ of the alphabet series, which also coincided with the last of the Vimto bonbons. So after that and what had been about 6 hours of geocaching it was time to head home for a well earned rest.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
