Don’t worry I won’t post these every day, but as the bees have now been here for a couple of days and the wind has eased I thought I’d watch them for a bit to see how they are getting on. We fed them when we housed the nucs in the hives and have since checked that they have found the syrup. They had, and there were bees in the feeders on both hives. In fact, the hive we’ve called Clettwr which seems to have the most bees and has been installed for a couple of extra days is already in need of a top up on the syrup.<\/p>\n
There was quite a lot of activity outside Clettwr today as well which is presumably good. There were bees coming and going and plenty of life, but the other hive ‘Leri’ seemed very quiet. I hope all is OK in there.<\/p>\n
There also seemed to be some activity around what look like a larva on the landing board on the Clettwr hive. I have no idea how it got there or what is going on – It could just bees the bees removing a somehow ‘defective’ larvae for hygiene reasons, it could mean they have very low stores and are removing some larvae (possibly unwanted drone larvae) to save on resources. It’s something we’ll have to keep an eye on.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
