We had a busy day yesterday. First was a trip to the local Christmas Fete where the Beavers had a stall. Morgan was donating some of his old toys and Anna had made chocolates to sell so we turned up to give those to them and also wandered around with Jamie and Cameron whilst their Mum manned the stall for a while.<\/p>\n

It was pretty busy there with all the usual faces from the local community and of course an unusual face in the shape of Santa in the Grotto.<\/p>\n

Next we braved the snow and headed up to Nant yr Arian for their ‘Natural Xmas Decoration Making’. We went to this last year and had a good time with the course being overseen by someone who runs such things for a living. It wasn’t quite so good this time as it was just one of the wardens on a table in the corner of the cafe with equipment (paper, glitter and scissors) for you make a single card and a single decoration. He did fine, even if he wouldn’t let us use the glue on our own, but it obviously isn’t something he normally does and I think we gave him more ideas than he gave us. He was\u00a0friendly\u00a0enough and chatted to Morgan, asking him what he wanted for Christmas and such like so it was a nice enough way to spend an hour or so. We had a bacon sandwich and hot chocolate from the cafe and sat in front of the stove helping Morgan decorate his card, but it was definitely better last year.<\/p>\n

Then it was off to do some shopping ready for a little ‘work-do’ on Monday. As a freelancer website designer<\/a> I don’t really have work colleagues as such, but I do work as part of a small (three-man) team on a project called ‘Designing Libraries’ that used to be run through the University. So, the three of us and our partners are getting together for a few drinks and mince pies here on Monday – We had to get a few supplies in ready for that.<\/p>\n

We then went to the Garden Centre to look at Christmas Trees and after much deliberation went for the one I liked which Anna thought would be too big. In the end she decided that I was usually right with such things so we went for it. This of course meant that the pressure was on for me and I started wondering if indeed it would be to big for out little living room. This wasn’t helped by the woman at the Garden Centre saying ‘if it looks big here, then it will be massive in your house’ – And she doesn’t even know that we only live in a little bungalow!<\/p>\n

We usually have a real tree but as we have brand new carpet<\/a> and always have trouble finding a perfect tree we finally plumped for an artificial one. It’s not quite the same in some respects, but it should work out cheaper in the long run, less hassle and most importantly will look nice throughout the festive seasion and won’t ruin the carpet!<\/p>\n

We don’t usually put the trimming up until after my birthday either (on the 11th) but as we’re having a little Xmas get together on Monday we thought we’d do it early this year so put the tree up in the evening.<\/p>\n

Thankfully it is just perfect for where we want it, the perfect height and the perfect girth and looks lovely. It’s beginning to feel Christmassy – If only the snow would come back.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
