{"id":5517,"date":"2010-08-11T10:27:04","date_gmt":"2010-08-11T09:27:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.alananna.co.uk\/blog\/?p=5517"},"modified":"2010-08-11T10:27:04","modified_gmt":"2010-08-11T09:27:04","slug":"a-very-brief-visit-to-stonehenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alananna.co.uk\/blog\/2010\/08\/a-very-brief-visit-to-stonehenge\/","title":{"rendered":"A (very) brief visit to Stonehenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Whilst driving between Southampton and South Gloucestershire on our recent <a title=\"A few days away\" href=\"https:\/\/www.alananna.co.uk\/blog\/2010\/a-few-days-away\/\">few days away<\/a>, we took the scenic route and realised that we weren&#8217;t far from <a title=\"Stonehenge\" href=\"http:\/\/www.english-heritage.org.uk\/daysout\/properties\/stonehenge\/\">Stonehenge<\/a>. I hadn&#8217;t visited it for years and Anna and Morgan had never been there.<\/p>\n<p>Last time I went there it was just a load of stone on a rolling hillside in Wiltshire. We parked nearby and walked across to it, sat on the stones and wondered how they managed to get them there.<\/p>\n<p>Things are very different now. As we neared it all we could see were people and cars. We pulled up in the car park already reluctant to actually visit the stones. We didn&#8217;t have our National Trust cards with us so couldn&#8217;t get in for free and with the entry price of \u00a36.90 and a huge queue of people we though better of it.
