Ever thought about going on holiday without knowing where you\u2019re headed? That\u2019s exactly what we\u2019ve signed up for! With winter on the way, we fancied a bit of sunshine, but since Anna\u2019s busy with work until March, we needed to find something for then. There are so many destinations to choose from, and we had no real preferences. So, we decided to leave it all in the hands of Journee<\/a>\u2014a service that plans and books your entire trip… but here\u2019s the catch: it keeps the destination a secret!<\/p>\n\n\n

Where could it be?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

A Mystery Holiday? Why Not!<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We usually plan every little detail of our trips\u2014where to go, what to do, and how to get there. But this time, we wanted to shake things up. Journee promised to handle it all\u2014flights, accommodation, excursions\u2014and they wouldn\u2019t tell us where we were going. The idea of stepping into the unknown sounded like an adventure, so we went for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After answering a few questions about our preferences (outdoor activities, being in nature, small towns, and countryside), Journee worked its magic. Of course, they give you the option to tweak things, but after a couple of adjustments, we realised that trying to fine-tune it too much would defeat the purpose! Why keep tweaking for perfection when the whole point is to let go of control and embrace something new?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Proposal<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s what they came back with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sounds great, right? The weather in March can be a little unpredictable but typically around 22\u00baC, which is perfect for us. No odd passport or visa requirements, no vaccinations needed, and the destination is just a 3-5 hour flight away. Even though we still don\u2019t know where we\u2019re going, we love the sound of it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Experiences<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n

Journee also lined up five experiences for us to enjoy. Here\u2019s a sneak peek:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. A boat expedition<\/strong>\u00a0to spot some memorable aquatic life. With a bit of luck, we\u2019ll catch a glimpse of unique wildlife in its natural habitat.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. An E-bike tour<\/strong>\u00a0through stunning landscapes with jaw-dropping geological formations and unforgettable views. (geology? What’s not to like!)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. An evening of stargazing<\/strong>, with a knowledgeable guide walking us through the constellations\u2014one of the best locations to see stars!<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. A self-guided trip<\/strong>\u00a0to a tiny islet, perfect for exploring quaint fishing villages, walking peaceful trails, or just lounging on the beach.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. A surfing lesson<\/strong>\u2014Anna might finally get to channel her inner surfer! I might just pretend I’ve never done it before and I’m a fast-learner!!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    The activities sound just up our street. We did get another proposal, which seemed to hint at a city break (I\u2019m pretty sure it was Lisbon), but we opted for this more nature-based option\u2014it feels more like \u201cus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Guessing Game<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    So, where are we going? I\u2019ve got a few ideas (Canary Islands? Madeira? Somewhere else entirely?), but I\u2019m trying not to overthink<\/em> it. Journee will send us eight clues leading up to the trip, so maybe one will give it away, but I\u2019m resisting the urge to investigate! They even say on them that “Google = Spoiled Fun”. The final details\u2014including boarding passes\u2014come in a sealed envelope just before we leave, and if we\u2019re feeling adventurous, we might even wait until the airport check-in to open it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    We also get a handy packing list, and they let us know the airport and flight times ahead of time\u2014so with a bit of detective work, we could probably narrow it down. But again, that would spoil the fun?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Are You Up for It?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Would you ever try a surprise holiday like this, or are you more of a \u2018plan everything to the last detail\u2019 kind of traveler? For us, it\u2019s been fun to hand over the reins and embrace the unknown.
