Well, it had to happen at some point I suppose. We\u2019ve been fairly well protected from Coronavirus here in Ceredigion. Case rates have generally been low and I know of very few people who have actually had Covid-19. That was until the last few weeks. Now that restrictions have been lifted and we\u2019re all returning to work and school as \u2018normal\u2019 there has been a higher incidence of the virus locally and I\u2019ve known of people having to isolate because they have symptoms or have tested positive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I had my first notification from the track and trace app last week saying that I had been a close contact of someone who had tested positive. I won’t say who, but it was a student that I had been helping at work. I\u2019d almost forgotten that I had the app on my phone as I\u2019d had no notifications from it over the past two years. I guess that isn’t surprising though as I hadn’t been a close contact with anyone during that time. Previously being a close contact would have meant isolation for me but that\u2019s not the case anymore so it was business as usual as far as I was concerned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Morgan then developed symptoms on Friday evening. He wasn\u2019t too ill, just a cough and a little bit \u2018fluey. There had been lots of Covid-19 cases at school and a few of his friends had ben off because of it over the last few weeks. We all did tests and Morgan tested positive on and LFT on Saturday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We kept him isolated as much as we could. He stayed in his room (nothing new there) and used a different bathroom to us. We also increased our hand washing and other hygiene too and increased ventilation in the house – fortunately the weather had warmed a up a little at the same time. However, we were still living in the same house and it felt inevitable that we would get it too. Morgan seemed OK on Sunday and by Monday was back to his usual self with just a slight lingering cough. He can’t go back to school until he tests negative on day 5 and 6 though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We all did a PCR test the next day. Morgan\u2019s came back positive as expected but Anna and I were still testing negative. I then developed symptoms myself. As usual I tend to suffer with such things. It hasn’t been too bad so far but I do have a dry throat, a cough, I feel achy all over and have a temperature. I also have a sore chest that feels like the pericarditis that I tend to develop whenever I get a viral infection. I\u2019ve ordered another PCR test as the one I did was done before I had symptoms. It also means I can\u2019t go into work again which isn’t ideal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I guess there\u2019s nothing I can do about it. I just have to go through the motions as far as the regulations are concerned and wait for my PCR test results. In some ways getting it now isn’t too bad as Anna and I have booked a holiday in a few weeks time. I\u2019d rather not get it just before or whilst on holiday so hopefully it\u2019ll be over and done with pretty soon and we’ll be able to go on holiday as planned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Camping on the Drive<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Despite the fact that in some ways getting it over and done with now would be the best course of action I was still careful to try not to infect Anna. We’ve been keeping our distance, washing hands more often and I even wore a mask in the house. Not only that but I was also banished to the camper for the night. No nice cosy double bed for me, instead I was camping on the driveway last night!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
