I took him for a drive in Ynyslas at the weekend too so that he could try out his L-plates and our car. Not the new car obviously!!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We didn&#8217;t have a party as Morgan didn&#8217;t want one. Instead he met a friend in town and went to KFC!! We did have a birthday cake for him though and Anna and I went out for dinner. Actually, it was lunch not dinner as SY23 was fully booked for dinner. It wasn&#8217;t actually to celebrate Morgan&#8217;s birthday either but just a treat for us seeing as we haven&#8217;t been able to go to Pembrokeshire to continue with my coast path run lately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Michelin Star<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It was prompted by the fact that the fairly new <a href=\"https:\/\/sy23restaurant.com\/\">SY23 Restaurant<\/a> in Aberystwyth had recently been given a Michelin Star. The chef there &#8216;Nathan Davies&#8217; used to work at Ynyshir Hall but has set up his own restaurant in Aberystwyth. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alananna.co.uk\/blog\/2019\/08\/fine-dining-at-ynyshir-hall\/\">Ynyshir Hall <\/a>is another local Michelin Starred restaurant that we have been to a couple of times. It was given it&#8217;s second star recently, but having looked at the menu we&#8217;re not so sure that it suits us anymore. The menu at SY23 however looked perfect. It was fairly similar to the Ynyshir menu of a few years ago which we enjoyed so we thought we&#8217;d give it a go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The set taster menu for lunch costs \u00a395 which is quite expensive for lunch, but there&#8217;s no harm in treating ourselves now and then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lunch at SY23<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You do get 10 courses for your money though, and it is ten courses of exceptional Michelin starred food too. It was certainly a sensation for our taste buds. It&#8217;s surprising how many people we know that walked past. We were also above the outdoor restaurant that is part of SY23 as well. Called <a href=\"https:\/\/ysgwar.com\/\">Y Sgwar<\/a> this offers a small plate menu that can be ordered in an informal Tapas style. From our vantage point we could see the chefs preparing their culinary delights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The food was delicious, the setting was good and the atmosphere nice too.
