Well, the last day of 2020 was also the coldest day of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coldest Day of the year<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Borth and Ynyslas Weather Station<\/a> on this site recorded a minimum temperature of -2.9\u00baC. Not that cold in the grand scheme of things, but it was the coldest day of the year. Presumably last January and February were fairly mild. Not that I can remember as after the year 2020 has been that seems like ages ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Years Eve Activities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We didn’t get up to much here. I went for a nice paddle on my surf-ski into the estuary. I headed into a strongly flowing current into the Leri. The journey back with the tide helping was altogether easier, but things were quite lumpy over the bar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What’s mad is the fact that the route I took in my surf ski was actually over the same patch of sea\/beach as the walk I’d done the day before. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clearly the walk was at low tide, the surf ski session was whilst the tide was a little higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Walking in the Dunes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After lunch I headed back out for another walk on the beach. Morgan was going to come with me but didn’t go very far and soon turned back. I however carried on for a pleasant stroll on the last day of the year. It may have been the coldest day of the year but with little wind it was quite pleasant. There was snow on the hills, and even a little bit of snow here and there on the beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The boardwalks were pretty treacherous covered in ice, and the pools in the dune slacks were frozen solid. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Years Eve wasn’t much of a party though as Anna and I went to bed at our usual time. So much for ‘partying like it’s 1999’ – I guess it was 2020 and things were a little different to 1999!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
