{"id":33186,"date":"2020-04-24T08:07:03","date_gmt":"2020-04-24T07:07:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.alananna.co.uk\/blog\/?p=33186"},"modified":"2020-04-24T08:08:17","modified_gmt":"2020-04-24T07:08:17","slug":"painting-the-town-red","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alananna.co.uk\/blog\/2020\/04\/painting-the-town-red\/","title":{"rendered":"Painting the Town Red"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I was paying around with some GPS Data using <a href=\"https:\/\/statshunters.com\/\">https:\/\/statshunters.com\/<\/a> the other day. The idea is to get a complete GPS track of my Coast Path and Offa&#8217;s Dyke runs over the last few years so that eventually I&#8217;ll be able to plot out a complete circumnavigation of Wales. I haven&#8217;t got around to doing that yet as I&#8217;ll have to go through my Strava activities and rename each of these runs with a specific keyword so that I can filter the activities based on that word. But, while I was there I quite liked the plots of my activities in their entirety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s the tracks of my activities in the UK. You can clearly see the route of our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alananna.co.uk\/blog\/tag\/jogle\/\">John O&#8217;Groats to Lands End cycle ride<\/a>. Also a few circuits here and there from various races around the UK.  Unfortunately I didn&#8217;t have a GPS device whilst in the Outer Hebrides as there would be quite a few traces there if I had. Similarly there would have been quite a cluster around Bristol, North Devon, Cornwall and Portland on the South Coast had GPS been a thing in my youth!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alananna.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/UK.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"1131\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alananna.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/UK.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-33188\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.alananna.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/UK.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.alananna.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/UK-159x200.jpg 159w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/a><figcaption>UK Activities<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Focussing in on Wales and there&#8217;s a little more coverage. You can also see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alananna.co.uk\/blog\/category\/coast-path\/\">my progress around Wales so far<\/a>. I started at Llanrhystud in the middle of Cardigan Bay and headed clockwise around Wales. Up along Cardigan Bay, around the Lleyn Peninsula and onto Anglesey. All the way around Anglesey and Holy Island and then back onto the mainland and all the way along the North Wales Coast to Chester. It was then back to Prestatyn to start heading South along Offa&#8217;s Dyke all the way to Monmouth where I rejoined the Coast Path and headed West along South Wales.
