Unfortunately, they tend to grab the attention of children and you\u2019ll find many a parent having a moan about the \u2018amount of time spent inside\u2019 or the \u2018amount of time they spend in front of the telly\u2019. While video games are good fun, here are some great ideas to get your kids out of the house, without having to resort to bribing them! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alananna.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Getting-the-Kids-Out-the-House-Without-Bribery-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alananna.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Getting-the-Kids-Out-the-House-Without-Bribery-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-29229\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.alananna.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Getting-the-Kids-Out-the-House-Without-Bribery-1.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.alananna.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Getting-the-Kids-Out-the-House-Without-Bribery-1-200x133.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.alananna.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Getting-the-Kids-Out-the-House-Without-Bribery-1-720x480.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Geocaching<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The world\u2019s modern treasure hunt,\ngeocaching is gamifying the outdoors and providing an exciting excuse to get\noutdoors, get exploring and find some treasure caches! <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/blog\/2018\/03\/what-is-geocaching\/\">Geocaching\nworks via GPS<\/a> and you can find free geocaching apps on the Android\nand Apple stores to get you started. The app will highlight nearby caches and\nprovide clues to find the cache itself. It might be big, like an all-weather\nduffle bag tucked under a fallen tree or quite small, like an old film canister\nhidden in a hole in the wall. The fun is in the find, once you do, sign the guest\nbook, swap out the treasures for a small one of your own and replace it for the\nnext treasure hunters to find. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Playgrounds and Adventure Playgrounds<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You probably remember days you spent at your local playground as a child or getting the opportunity to visit a huge adventure playground and having the freedom to explore, roleplay and challenge yourself with climbing activities, swinging from bar to pole and proving you were the king of your imaginary castle. Modern playgrounds take it that one step further, involving apps within multi-games arenas that kids compete with footballs and basketballs to score the most, further gamifying the outdoor experience. Some places also provide you the opportunity to get up\nclose and personal with some interesting animals, from fluffy lambs and cute\nbunnies to bouncy lemurs and smartly-dressed penguins. Some animal experiences\nneed to be booked in advance so make sure to research before you go but there\nare also half and full day excursions that allow your child to play \u201czookeeper\nfor the day\u201d, that make for an awesome close-encounter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A Garden of Their Own<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Schools, who provide outdoor\nallotment spaces, regularly comment on how keen pupils are to get involved with\ngrowing produce and being self-sufficient so why not offer your child a portion\nof the garden to grow what they like? Together you can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gardenersworld.com\/how-to\/diy\/how-to-make-a-wooden-planter\/\">design\na DIY planter<\/a> or go out and purchase a small planter box, then\nresearch the best growing conditions for certain plants but allow them the\nfreedom to plant, cultivate and grow. You might be surprised at their\ndedication to the cause and even better, get yourself some yummy fresh\nvegetables and fruit out of their gardening endeavours! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Getting your kids outdoors\nshouldn\u2019t be a case of pulling teeth and can grow and foster their imagination,\npreventing them becoming bored in the future as they develop their own daily\nto-do lists. It\u2019s also a good way to provide freedom in a safe way, rather than\njust kicking them out the house in the morning (not unlike some of our parents\ndid to us all those years ago!).
