It was the last day of \u00a0Half Term yesterday (if you don’t count the weekend) and I was off work with Morgan whilst Anna was working at the University.<\/p>\n
We had planned a day at the leisure centre in Machynlleth. We had hoped to go kayaking but that was fully booked so plumped just for the volleyball and tennis and then were going to go for a swim.<\/p>\n
First we let the chickens out that we are looking after and collected two eggs from them. We had breakfast did a few things around the house and then headed off to Machynlleth. There were only 3 names (including Morgan’s) down for volleyball, but Morgan wanted me to do it with him as well, so I put my name down too. Unfortunately the other two people didn’t show up, so it was a good job I was there as well\u00a0because Volleyball with just one person would have been difficult! It did mean that Morgan got one-to-one coaching from Steve the Coach though which isn’t too bad really, especially for \u00a33.<\/p>\n
It does seem a shame that such things aren’t more popular though as the leisure centre, and therefore the council must be losing money by running such things is only one child turns up.<\/p>\n
The Short Tennis and Table Tennis session wasn’t much busier with 5 children in total. Once again I joined in as well so that Morgan had a partner to play with. Despite the small numbers joining in we still enjoyed ourselves and had a good morning at the leisure centre.<\/p>\n
It was now 1:30pm though and time for lunch, but we decided to go for a swim first. We’d quite like Morgan to do the Cerist Aquathlon that is coming up soon, but he is a little reluctant due to the swim portion. He is a perfectly capable swimmer, he just isn’t quite as good as some of his friends and therefore doesn’t like doing it in any competitive form. This means he rarely practises swimming properly and doesn’t improve much when it comes to swimming any distance.<\/p>\n
The Aquathlon is only 6 lengths of Mach pool though so as soon as we were in the water I encouraged him to do the 6 lengths just to prove to himself that he can do it. It was a bit of a struggle for him, but he managed it without too much effort and could easily have done more if he had to. His stroke is actually quite good, he just needs to work on his stamina in the water. We just need to up his confidence a bit as he can do it, he just thinks he can’t.<\/p>\n
After the 6 lengths we just played in the pool for an hour, but the slide never came on and by now we were getting hungry so got out, got changed and headed to the cafe. Morgan had beans on toast and ate most of it whilst I had jacket potato with tuna mayonnaise and finished off the rest of Morgan’s beans.<\/p>\n
It was now getting late in the afternoon so we headed home and arrived there just before Anna did. I jumped on the turbo trainer for 90 minutes and then went for an hour run before we all settled down for dinner.<\/p>\n
Not a bad sport-filled end to the holidays, and we still have the weekend to go yet as well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
