According to the Flood Plan Guidance for Communities document this means that we:<\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>act on the advice received from the flood plan coordinator or their assistant<\/li>\n<li>puts flood protection measures in place<\/li>\n<li>helps and advises vulnerable people and helps move them to safety early if required<\/li>\n<li>informs the community of the situation and advises them to prepare by moving cars, putting sandbags or flood boards in place etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u00a0We&#8217;ve just had the first of our flood alerts from the Environment agency. It arrived last night saying:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div>Happy New Year.<\/div>\n<div>Just to let you know that there is a Severe Flood Alert for Tidal Borth (up towards Ynyslas)\u00a0issued by Natural Resources Wales, with the peak anticipated for around high tide at 8.30 am tomorrow.<\/div>\n<div>They state: &#8220;High Spring tide will coincide with storm surge, large waves and high winds, giving potential for the highest water level we have experienced for some time&#8221;.<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Severe flood alerts are defined as:\u00a0<\/span><b><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: 'Times New Roman';\">Severe flooding. Danger to life.<\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Stay in a safe place with a means of escape.<br \/>\nBe ready should you need to evacuate from your home.<br \/>\nCo-operate with the emergency services.<br \/>\nCall 999 if you are in immediate danger.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div>Not much of a Happy New Year greeting really, but I guess it&#8217;s time to take a wander around the area to make sure there\u00a0isn&#8217;t any flooding and that the local residents are all OK and not in need of any assistance.
