{"id":14202,"date":"2013-07-26T08:20:53","date_gmt":"2013-07-26T07:20:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.alananna.co.uk\/blog\/?p=14202"},"modified":"2013-07-26T08:27:21","modified_gmt":"2013-07-26T07:27:21","slug":"getting-some-fitness-back","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alananna.co.uk\/blog\/2013\/07\/getting-some-fitness-back\/","title":{"rendered":"Getting some fitness back"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another guest post for you today, this time from writer, blogger and mum to three Jane Blackmore who is looking for a challenge in order to raise money for Diabetes UK &#8211; Something I did a while back with a swim in Lake Bala.<\/p>\n<h1>Getting some fitness back<\/h1>\n<p>I am in a quandary.<\/p>\n<p>In the past I have prided myself on being healthy, fit, and a little overly competitive.\u00a0 However, it is fair to say that in the last two years, I have let things slide a little.<\/p>\n<p>Ok, I have let them slide a lot.<\/p>\n<h2>The back story.<\/h2>\n<p>Two of my three children have developed conditions which have meant extra care, time in hospital, and a huge amount of parental stress.\u00a0 Running stopped being an option because it was easier to wander to the fridge and comfort eat.\u00a0 The stress my partner and I have endured is evident by the spare tyre around my middle.<\/p>\n<p>I very much doubt that anyone believes I have run three marathons for charity in the last six years.<\/p>\n<h2>So what to do next.<\/h2>\n<p>I have been trying to find motivation through the written word.\u00a0 I spend days reading fitness blogs in the hope that something will jump out through the screen, grab my trainers and tie them to my feet.\u00a0 I was inspired by recent pictures of Alan&#8217;s latest swim and I felt inclined to dive into a lake and start swimming.<\/p>\n<h2>I need a goal.<\/h2>\n<p>My previous marathons were all for charity.\u00a0 I ran to raise preciously needed funds for my friend&#8217;s son who had leukaemia.\u00a0 I also ran in memory of my dear Aunt who lost her battle against breast cancer when she was in her fifties.<\/p>\n<p>Now I feel charity should begin at home.<\/p>\n<p>When I get my fitness back I plan on raising money for Diabetes UK, my seven year old daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 last year.<\/p>\n<p>I have considered running another marathon.\u00a0 I am not sure I will generate the same sponsorship as in previous years as it is my fourth.\u00a0 I have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.justgiving.com\/en\/triathlon-for-charity\">looked in detail at the triathlon events<\/a> calendar, but I confess, I am intimidated by this sport.\u00a0 Plus I have considered cycling from London to Paris, no mean feat for someone who doesn&#8217;t own a bike&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>My partner tells me that perhaps it is time to stop looking at the computer and planning my goal, perhaps it is time to start <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alananna.co.uk\/blog\/2013\/day-20-of-summer-rain-at-last\/\">training<\/a> for it.<\/p>\n<p>I think he may be right!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Author:<\/strong> Jane Blackmore is a writer, blogger and mum to three.
