I’ve been looking with envy at the various Park Runs around the country lately and had even thought about organising one myself in Aberystwyth but it looks as though someone else is about to do all of the hard work for me. There’s news about that someone is organising a Park Run. The Aberystwyth Athletics Club website states:<\/p>\n

“As part of the UK national Parkrun scheme events will commence in Aberystwyth in the not too distant future.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sounds exciting, so I registered on the Park Run website this morning, and sure enough, as part of the sign up procedure you have to select your local Park Run and Aberystwyth is listed there.<\/p>\n

What is Park Run?<\/h1>\n

Parkrun<\/a> organise free, weekly, 5km timed runs around the world. They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in.<\/p>\n

These events take place in pleasant parkland surroundings and they encourage people of every ability to take part; from those taking their first steps in running to Olympians; from juniors to those with more experience; ParkRun welcome everyone.<\/p>\n

I’ve seen lots of people writing about entering them and they always seem like fun so it’ll be good to have one in this part of the world.<\/p>\n

Aberystwyth Park Run<\/h1>\n

The Aberystwyth Park Run is due to start on Septemeber 1st and here are the details straight from the ParkRun Website:<\/p>\n

What is Aberystwyth parkrun?<\/h3>\n

It is a 5km run – it’s you against the clock.<\/p>\n

When is it?<\/h3>\n

Every Saturday at 09:00<\/p>\n

Where is it?<\/h3>\n

It’s run in Plascrug Park, Plascrug Avenue, Aberystwyth SY23 1HL. See\u00a0Course page<\/a>\u00a0for more details.<\/p>\n

What does it cost to join in?<\/h3>\n

Nothing – it’s free! but please register in advance.<\/p>\n

How fast do I have to be?<\/h3>\n

We all run for our own enjoyment. Please come along and join in whatever your pace!<\/p>\n

Aberystwyth parkrun needs you!<\/h3>\n

It is entirely organised by volunteers – email\u00a0AberystwythHelpers@parkrun.com<\/a>\u00a0to help.<\/p>\n

We’re friendly!<\/h3>\n

Every week we grab a post parkrun coffee at Wetherspoons in the old railway station – please come and join us.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
