It’s still really cold here, crazy cold in fact for the time of year. Daytime temperatures are only just breaking into double figures and with a cold wind more often than not it feels freezing. We’ve got the fire on again at the moment despite the fact that we are well into the second half of May. It does look set to warm up next week though so maybe the summer clothes will be out soon.<\/p>\n

Also on the weather front was an almighty hailstorm the other night. we’ve never heard anything like it. We were woken by hammering on the windows that sounded as though someone was throwing thousands of marbles at the conservatory. We should really have got out of bed to see just how big the hailstones were as the next day the damage they had done was evident in the garden. Loads of our plants had holes about 2cm in diameter through all of their leaves. Some of the plants with smaller, tougher leaves such as the\u00a0lilies\u00a0just had brown bruises all over them, but plants with larger leaves such as the Hostas, Pelargoniums and Hydrangea had holes all over them as if they had been shot with a pellet gun.<\/p>\n
