Action Packed Days Continue

Wow, another action packed day and on a Bank Holiday too.

Open Water Swim

First things first and that was to start the day with an early morning sea swim. Not too early today as it was a bank holiday but I was on the beach at Borth by 6:30am ready for a 7:00am start. I’d decided that the Aberystwyth Aquanuts should have a day out today and swim at Borth rather than in Aberystwyth today. So, as the sun rose higher in the sky a number of us set off into the calm water. As well as myself there was Helen, Richard, Federico, Larry, Nick, Jo, Ruth and Victoria. We had a lovely swim, The water is warming up, it was fairly clear and the weather couldn’t have been better. We headed out to the point, on to the Camel’s Humps and then back along the buoy line before turning back to the shore and swimming over the top of the north reef which was completely submerged by the high tide.

A few people then came back to ours for coffee and cake in the garden whilst the others headed off having had a perfect start to the Bank Holiday Monday.

Surf Ski

Next on the agenda for me was a surf ski session. Morgan was hanging out on the beach with some friends for the day so I paddled from Ynyslas to Borth to meet them. I had a chat and let them have a quick go on the ski. Josh and Ollie were surprised at just how unstable it was and were unable to stay in it. Morgan on the other hand surprised himself by sitting in it first time and paddling off, he paddled over a couple of mini waves, turned around and caught a mini wave back in.

I then paddled back to Ynyslas and had lunch with Anna in the garden. It was now quite hot.

CX Bike Ride

I still had an entire afternoon to spare though so off I went on my Cyclocross bike. I headed up the long ‘Leg Burner’s Big Brother’ climb. I was feeling quite tired and the blazing sun didn’t help matters. No KOM’s for me today. At the top it was a quick blast down the forest track to the road. I hit a big rock coming down here and pinch flatted my front tyre. The perfect excuse to sit on the roadside in the sunshine fixing it. From here I headed around Nant y Moch and then along the rocky track to Llyn Syfydrin. I then decided to play on some of the MTB trails so rode down Hippity Hop, along Diggers End and then followed the Pendam Trail around to Nant y Arian visitor center. I didn’t do Italian Job but headed home via Ice Rink, down to Penrhyncoch and then through Gogerddan Woods.

Back at home it was time for burgers! They were of course eaten in the garden which was still glorious. It was actually a little too hot out there for me. More of the same tomorrow please.
