Just a quick update on the matter of prizes. The rule about one prize being awarded for every five entries was removed this year and it was left up to race organisers to decide how prizes would be awarded based on the cost of running the race - The cost of giving out too many prizes was becoming too much to bear so this was a new ruling (July 2018) so as to ensure the continued viability of certain races. So, British Cycling have removed the prize stipulations and it’s down to organisers. Apparently though top 3 are guaranteed pretty much always and I was "pretty unlucky actually Alan, prizes normally do include 4th, but I know that the venue on the weekend pushed costs up so they covered what they could."

Sounds fair to me as prizes for anything more than top 3 sounded a little too good to be true and none of us are in it for the prizes anyway. The kudos of a good result, the thrill of the race and the satisfaction of having put in a good performance are more than enough.
