Just a quick follow up - The good news is that my achilles seems fine since the race so I was hoping to start running again. I was pretty motivated after the win as well. What I didn't notice at the time of the race though was that I must have stood on something in transition. I do vaguely remember a sharp pain as I exited the water from the swim but continued on regardless. I didn't feel it in the heat of the moment but it was pretty sore by the time I got home. Since then it seems to have got worse. It's not a huge cut but it is very deep and it's difficult not to aggravate it when it's on your foot.

Walking is more of a hobbling procedure at the moment, there's no chance of running and cycling shoes aren't the most comfortable for it either. I can surf ski without any pain but walking to and from the beach with my ski is pretty painful. I've just come back from a windsurf session as well and I can confirm that windsurfing doesn't help it either!

I think it might take a while to heal thanks to the depth of the wound and it's location. There's always something!!!
