Holiday to Dorset – Moors Valley Country Park
As was now customary on this holiday, I headed out first thing in the morning for an early morning walk to find some geocaches. This time I headed in a different direction along the network of Cycle Paths and found a nice little nature reserve to stroll through. I found a geocache as well, but also got completely soaked as it was pouring with rain this morning. I then stopped off for breakfast croissants for Anna and Morgan and roused them from their slumber back at the hotel.

The itinerary today was to meet Rebecca and Pete and their children Anna and Jay at Moors Valley Country Park, so we set off early to leave us plenty of time to get there and to stop en route to buy supplies for a picnic.
As usual we got there much earlier than we needed to even after a stop at M&S food for picnic supplies so we wandered around a little on our own and then met the others just after 10:30am. We said our hellos and then headed off around into the forest following the play trail which took us to a number of rustic styled climbing frames for the children to play on.

They all seemed to enjoy themselves. Anna and Jay needed some help on some of the climbing frames but Morgan seemed more than happy to help out where he could and the adults services were only needed from time to time. Morgan also seemed to enjoy looking after the younger two and retrieved Jay shoes, socks and trousers whenever he decided to strip off!

We had a picnic lunch in the woods and continued on our trail which took in a treetop trail as well. It wasn’t as high as the treetop trail we did in Salcey Forest a few years ago, but it was still nice to do and a pleasant way to be spending the day.

Back at the visitor centre it was time for ice-creams and then a play in the play area before we all had to go.
We said our good-byes, Rebecca, Pete, Anna and Jay headed off to Southampton and we went the opposite way back to Portland where we had dinner in the Pulpit Inn near Portland Bill. We once again had a bit of time to kill so went off to find a geocache on the cliffs before having dinner.
With Saturday over and done with, that was pretty much the end of our holiday, we now had to pack the car ready to go as I had a race in the morning so had to be on Portland for 6:30am and then we were heading back to my parents en route to home, work and school. We had certainly packed a lot in and Dorset had been good to us. We’d all had a lovely time and will have to come back again.
