Enjoying the Garden

I made a nice early start on Saturday so that I could have some time to enjoy the garden. By 9am I had done an hour or so of cleaning inside the house and had spent a couple of hours cleaning my car. This was followed by an hour of lawn mowing and by 10am I had already done 13,000 steps, hitting my goal for the day.

I was about to go for a windsurf but the tide was high so Anna and I popped into town for some meat and other supplies for a ‘Spicery.com’ BBQ. I then headed out for a windsurf which was OK, but not as good as it had been on Friday evening. I can’t complain though as it was just nice to be on the beach in the sunshine.

We invited a few people over to join us for our BBQ but no one could make it, so we decided to go ahead with it ourselves anyway. Anna busied her self with the preparation in the kitchen and I did some gardening which gave me chance to enjoy the garden a little as well. I’m quite liking the look of the apiary at the moment. I’ve been letting the edges go a little wild and have planted a few wildflower areas. The comfrey and mallow seem to be doing well too and the bamboo screen to protect the bee hives from the wind is finally growing a little taller, adding some height to the garden. I think I like it down in that part of the garden at the moment because it looks quite natural but is still tidy and I like the different heights of plants too.

Elsewhere things are looking good. The Verbena in the main border is growing well. In fact everything is growing like mad. We even have a big blousy rose in the garden! The cherries are ripening ont he cherry tree too. No doubt the birds will enjoy them.
