Sport Relief Mile

We did it, so well done to all the Scouts who ran the Sport Relief Mile in Aberystwyth on Sunday. I won’t name them here, but we had 6 Scouts, 2 Cubs, 1 Sibling, 4 parents and 3 leaders, all of whom ran the Sport Relief mile along Park Avenue in Aberystwyth. There were plenty of others out running too, many in costume, doing it as a three-legged race or as an egg ‘n’ spoon race and such like.

There is still sponsorship money to come in but so far we are up to a total of £270, so thanks to all of those who sponsored us and raised money through this and other fund-raising activities – I’m sure it will all go to make a difference to those less fortunate than us. If you haven’t done so yet you can still sponsor us here: http://my.sportrelief.com/sponsor/2nd-borth-scouts-sport-relief-mile

It was a lovely sunny day in Aberystwyth if a little chilly but everyone seemed to enjoy the run. Many of us could of course have done the longer races, but it was never supposed to be a competition. The whole point was to raise money and get the Scouts out together at a public event in Aberystwyth, so we did the shorter version to make sure it was inclusive for all. Some obviously found it easier than others, but everyone enjoyed it and we raised lots of money too.
