A Hobbit Costume for World Book Day

It was World Book Day on Thursday which means that children all over the country and presumably the world go to school dressed up as a character from one of their favourite books. Morgan decided at first that he wanted go as Gollum from The Hobbit but we couldn’t quite decide how to make a Gollum costume so we persuaded him that a Hobbit would be better.

Even so, Anna spent all of Wednesday evening making an outfit. She made a waistcoat from an old T-shirt, complete with a pocket to store the ring, a cloak from some curtain material, a sword from cardboard and aluminium foil and some hairy feet from an old pair of socks. The Hobbit costume was completed with a cut off pair of tracksuit bottoms and a ring from a keyring attached to the waistcoat with some ribbon. Fortunately Morgan already has a good crop of Hobbit hair!

Morgan seemed quite pleased with Hobbit costume and was quite happy wearing it to school. In fact he kept it on all day and even into the evening as well.
