Bluergh!

Everyone else seems to have had some sort of lurgy lately. Stomach bugs and colds seem to be rife and half of Morgan’s school was off ill one day. Morgan wasn’t quite right himself the other day, Anna’s Mum was coughing and spluttering whilst she was here and work colleagues have all been ill too. Anna isn’t quite herself either. I thought I was coming down with it the other day as well, I had a bit of a sore throat, a bit of a sniffle and then felt a bit sick too. I took a couple of days off training as I was feeling lazy and a little ill, but it never really came to anything, certainly not the full blown sickness bug or ‘flu-like’ cold that’s been going around. In fact, if it weren’t for the fact that I was expecting to get something I would probably have ignored it completely.

I thought I’d better get back to some training today though and either I’m still being lazy or there’s a bug lingering in there somewhere preventing me from functioning at 100%. I might feel OK, but the Turbo Trainer doesn’t lie and I just couldn’t do it. I lasted just over 30 minutes before giving up on what was supposed to be a 2 hour long session. I was hitting my targets, but just couldn’t really be bothered.

A lingering viral infection or a psychological lack of motivation, I’m not sure which but I’m hoping its the former as that’s easy to fix. I think I should start planning my 2015 race calendar though and signing up to some races just in case it’s the latter, maybe some looming races will be the proverbial kick that I need to get me back on track.
