St David’s Day Aquathlon Aberystwyth – Photos

I wasn’t competing in the INTRtri St David’s Day Aquathlon at the weekend. Mainly because I didn’t want to, but also because it then means as a committee member of the club I could help out with marshalling on the day. I’m not that keen to compete simply because it is too early in the year for me so I won’t be up to speed and I can’t just do it for fun without giving it my all which then interrupts my training.

Trouble is, marshalling just makes you want to do it, especially when the day was such a lovely one. A little chilly maybe but it started off with glorious sunshine for the 10:20am start at Plascrug Leisure Centre. The format is a 400m swim in the pool followed by a 4.6km run around Plascrug Avenue. I got there early and seemed to know almost all the competitors so stood around chatting for a while before heading off to the gates at the far end of the avenue which was to be my marshalling station for the morning. I didn’t see much of the race other than seeing every one as they passed me twice on the run. I did of course shout encouragement to those who needed it and abuse to those who deserved it – all in good fun to people I knew I hasten to add!

I was also taking photos of the event, these can be seen and purchased in the INTRtri St David’s Day Aqualthlon 2013 Photo Gallery.

Here are a few to whet your apetite. Hope you all had a good day and put in a time you can be proud of.

Don’t worry though, I didn’t take the whole day off of exercise as I spent the afternoon in the leisure centre first for a 4,500m swim and then spent an hour and a quarter aquajogging.
