Pudding Party!!!

Well, that was an unexpected surprise. I thought we did well on the pudding front last weekend with a huge carvery followed by 7 full size puddings and a slice of chocolate birthday cake, but that has been exceeded today!

I had an early breakfast and then went for a run and a swim followed by coffee and a bacon sandwich in Machynlleth. I came home to a plate full of freshly made pancakes so had a few of those as well and then had a phone call to say a couple of Morgans friends were walking into Borth for a ‘Pudding Party’ – Did we want to go?

It sounded good to me, ‘Pudding Party’ was certainly pretty intriguing and further investigation revealed it to be a church fund-raiser. The plan was pay £3 to enter and then eat as much pudding as you wanted (in my world that means eat as much as you possibly can!). We got there fairly early so as not to miss out on the best puddings, but ended up being the first there. Morgan and his friends were nowhere to be seen yet so we dug in and started munching our way through the huge selection of puddings on offer. The table certainly looked inviting with so much to choose from.

Pudding Table

Cheesecake, Sticky Toffee Pudding, Trifle, Tiramisu, Pancakes, Bread and Butter pudding, Banoffee Pie, Lemon Meringue Pie, Chocolate Brownies, Chocolate Cake, Mississippi Mud Pie, Fruit Cake, Profiteroles and that was just the ones I tried, all full size portions and most with cream on, followed by another slice of Cheesecake, some more Banoffee Pie and a delicious Peach and Creme Fraiche dessert too…. Yep, that’s 16 puddings in total!

There was a quiz and raffle too and we managed to win an interesting bottle of wine in the quiz. It’s a Cabernet Sauvignon that is apparently “rich and delightful with mint and black forest fruit flavours”. On top of which we had our arms twisted to take home a doggy bag! I went to get a slice of lemon meringue pie to take home but ended up having to take it all, along with half a banoffee pie, some cheesecake, some summer fruit pudding and a huge cheeseboard! Not a bad haul of calories there for £6 between us!

  1. Looks lovely! If only we could have been there….came home yesterday but had seen the poster about the Pudding Party.

Still, sounds like a calorie excess was avoided 😉

    More’s the pity!
