Our Weblog Book 2010
Phew, that’s Volume 2 (July – December) of our 2010 weblog book ready for print as well. After hundreds of hours of work laying it all out in a desktop publishing application, importing photos proof-reading and proof-reading again, creating a DVD of video clips to accompany it and then exporting each volume as a pdf file, opening each of the 700 pages in Photoshop and saving it as a PNG file, placing those PNG files into Blurbs BookSmart application, creating a dust cover and finally uploading it to the web, both volumes are now ready for me to print and enjoy on the bookshelf.
It’s a lot of work, but the resultant books are amazing. They look good now, everyone who sees them are always really impressed, but they will really come into their own in 20 years time when we look back on them with fond memories and see how things have changed. I don’t know what will happen to the weblog in 20 years time – who knows what will happen to the internet, but a book should last a lifetime.
