A Celestial Triangle

It’s a perfect night for star-gazing tonight, I’ve just been out there wearing shorts and ‘T’-shirt looking at a triangle formed by the Moon, Venus and Jupiter.

To be honest you don’t need a telescope to see them at their best and on a clear night like tonight, they are really obvious in the sky to the West with the naked eye.

I was a bit rushed this evening so didn’t really have the patience for any photography, but here’s a couple of quick snapshots of the lovely crescent Moon, with Venus shining brightly above and to the right of it and Jupiter a little less bright, below and to the right.

I hope you managed to get a good view of them, and if not, then take a look now, or over the next few days.

And here’s a bonus photo of the Moon that I took.
