Xmas Day in Ynyslas

I think Morgan may have broken a record on Christmas Day as he managed to make it start at 2:30am! Santa had already been, so he came into our bed with his stocking and opening the presents in it. For some reason Santa must have been punishing us as he had left him an electronic sound machine that made burping and farting noises – just what you need at 2:30am on Christmas morning.

Morgan did go back to sleep eventually though and we got up again somewhere around 7:30 to see what was under the tree. After some pain au chocolate and some much needed coffee, the unwrapping began. Morgan was of course really excited but was actually more interested in making sure Anna and I had presents to unwrap than he was in his own.

We all had plenty of cool stuff, some of which I’m sure I’ll talk about in future blog posts. Morgan had loads of stuff, but what he didn’t realise was that we had left one thing back. We’d hidden a bike bottle in the tree with a message on it for him to look in the conservatory. We managed to make him come across the bottle by shooting balls from a ‘crocodile shooter’ that he’d been given into the tree. He soon found the bottle, got excited about another present and then read the message so headed off to the conservatory to find his new bike.

What's this?

What's this?

I’m just as excited about his bike as he is. We decided to buy a nice lightweight bike specifically for children from Islabikes. It’s the same price as a bike from one of the bike manufacturers such as Trek or Specialized but so much nicer as it is much much lighter and specced with components that suit the smaller dimensions and different body shape of kids perfectly. I can’t wait to hit the trails with him.

So, while Anna started work on the Christmas Feast, I used my new bike stand to build Morgans bike for him, then set to the task of constructing our new telescope. The telescope is quite a monster but the grey skies and drizzle we’ve been having mean that we’ll have to wait a while before we get chance to use it.

Time for a feast

Time for a feast

Dinner was delicious, Roast goose with all the trimmings – Far too much for the three of us of course, but that’s the idea at Christmas. Dinner was of course accompanied by some burping and farting from Morgan’s noise machine – who’s silly idea was that!

Anna and I also realised over dinner that we’d forgotten to wrap a present for Morgan – We seem to miss one every year. so a little later a new skateboard came out of the cupboard for him too! Then it was down to a game of Monopoly. We actually got two versions of Monopoly for Xmas this year, the original version and a Manx version so we played the Manx one for something different. It was Morgan’s first experience at Monopoly but he seemed to enjoy it.

There are loads more toys to play with yet and Morgan is off school until Jan 9th, so plenty of time to play with them as well.

Hope everyone else had a good Christmas too – Thanks for all of the presents. Merry Christmas everyone!
