Enjoying the Spring Sunshine

Like almost everyone in the country, we’ve been enjoying the spring sunshine, sometimes from within our new conservatory which is now finished and is a lovely place to sit and watch the world go by, other times from within the garden itself.

We’re not the only ones either, the plants and flowers seem to be loving it as does the local wildlife. We had a lovely little family of goldfinches in the garden the other day investigating the dandelion seed heads, there’s a blue tit nesting in our nest box and a blackbird nesting in the ivy. The Skylarks are in song above the garden all day long and there’s a grasshopper warbler that can be heard nearby in the early evening.

The water feature that we installed last year seems to be a favourite with us and the wildlife too. The birds use it to drink from and bathe in with blue tits, sparrows, great tits, blackbirds, and willow warblers being regular visitors and yesterday there were loads of Large Red Damsel flies flitting about not far from it.

We often get nice weather at this time of year and it’s great that many people have been able to get out and enjoy it. Our Borth Weather Station recorded a maximum of 24.0ÂșC yesterday, the hottest day of the year so far and also the highest April temperature since the weather station started recording.
