Ceredigion Moth Trapping 2011

Well, it’s been a while but we managed to put the moth trap out last night for the first time this year. Up until now it has been either too wet, too cold, too windy or I’ve been too busy.

Last night looked perfect though, not warm with temperatures dropping to just below 6ºC, but light winds, dry and overcast. We put the trap out and then checked on it a little later. There were soon moths in evidence with quite a few Shoulder Stripes flying around and landing near to the trap.

This morning, the contents were pretty much as expected:

  • 13x Shoulder Stripe
  • 1x Mottled Grey

Nothing too exciting but at least our records are off to a start for 2011.
