New Brakes

New Brakes

I’m still out of action due to torn ligaments in my ankle. I didn’t do the Lake Bala swim on Saturday as I thought it was best to rest it so that I’ll hopefully still be able to do the Bontrager 24/12 MTB race in a couple of weeks where I’m supposed to be ‘racing’ solo for 12 hours non-stop. My ankle is still fairly sore though so we’ll have to see how it holds up.

In the meantime it gave me a little bit of time to work on my bikes. My plan is to take both bikes with me, not only so that I have a spare but also so that I can just swap bikes now and then to give me a change of riding style and a change in position. Trouble is my old Specialized Rockhopper was looking a little neglected. The brakes had seen better days for sure. I therefore bought a new set of Formula ORO K24 brakes the same as those on my Commencal Meta 5.5, took the old ones off the Commencal, put them on the rockhopper and put the new ones on the Commencal. I made a few other little tweaks here and there and I now have two fully functional bikes again.

Lets hope my body is fully functional soon too.
