A hobble in the woods

Following my little incident whilst out windsurfing on Friday I’ve been unable to get out on the water. My lip is still swollen but isn’t too bad, but I also injured my foot and that has been getting worse. It’s sore to walk on and pretty bruised so stuffing it into a footstrap probably wouldn’t be a good idea.

Today’s activity was therefore a family geocaching expedition. We drove into Aberystwyth to get some petrol, then parked on the little road down to Clarach. From here we walked up into the woods and did several geocaches.

Walking was pretty uncomfortable as well. My swollen foot probably wouldn’t fit into my walking boots so I did it in my crocs which weren’t too bad. We did seven caches in total, four in a little Glan y Mor woods series, two from the alphabet series and one other. All were easy to find and everyone seemed to enjoy the little walk. Although for me it was more of a hobble than a walk.

The weather wasn’t great, grey and windy, so being able to see the sea and some perfect windsurfing conditions for me wasn’t really what I needed. However on this side of the hill and in amongst the trees we were out of the worst of it so it wasn’t too bad.

The seven geocaches found today takes our total number of finds up to 199, just one more to go to the 200 milestone.
