A few more Moths

At last another break in the weather and some time to put the moth trap out. Once again I put it out without a sheet so the catch wasn’t huge but there were 44 moths in the trap this morning from 10 different species, including a Poplar Hawkmoth.

  • 1 Pale-shouldered Brocade
  • 6 Lackey
  • 12 Heart and Dart
  • 18 Dark Arches
  • 1 Large Yellow Underwing
  • 2 Bright-line Brown-eye
  • 1 Shoulder-striped Wainscot
  • 1 Poplar Hawkmoth
  • 1 Flame Shoulder
  • 1 Pale Mottled Willow

Good to see some old favourites in there and the numbers increasing, but I’ve just looked back to a night of trapping at the same time last year and we had 116 moths, from 31 different species. Maybe I should try a night with the sheet to provide a suitable comparison.
