A few more Moths
At last another break in the weather and some time to put the moth trap out. Once again I put it out without a sheet so the catch wasn’t huge but there were 44 moths in the trap this morning from 10 different species, including a Poplar Hawkmoth.
- 1 Pale-shouldered Brocade
- 6 Lackey
- 12 Heart and Dart
- 18 Dark Arches
- 1 Large Yellow Underwing
- 2 Bright-line Brown-eye
- 1 Shoulder-striped Wainscot
- 1 Poplar Hawkmoth
- 1 Flame Shoulder
- 1 Pale Mottled Willow
Good to see some old favourites in there and the numbers increasing, but I’ve just looked back to a night of trapping at the same time last year and we had 116 moths, from 31 different species. Maybe I should try a night with the sheet to provide a suitable comparison.
