A Day out in Bristol

I haven’t been into the centre of Bristol for years. Broadmead used to be a regular stomping ground for me, but it has all changed since I was last there. As part of our recent few days away we spent a day in Bristol, shopping at the new (to me) Cabot Circus.

We first had a game of crazy golf, then wandered around the shops. I headed off to Evans to look at some bikes. Anna bought some toys for presents for people and Morgan bought a remote control car. The best thing about Cabot Circus for me was the cladding of the outside of the building which was completely covered in Portlandian Roach, a rock that I spent many hours studying as part of my PhD in Geology! It was good to see those familiar Aptyxiella and Trigonia fossils up close and personal again!

We then went to Blasie Castle, again things have changed here although I hadn’t really been there much before. Typically as we got to the playground it started pouring with rain, but it did ease off and the children were able to play on the climbing frames.

We’d planned to go to Preview for dinner but had a bit of time to waste so did some more window shopping in the Mall, including playing with iPads in the Apple Store before stuffing ourselves with far too much food in the restaurant!

A day out in the bog smoke for us country folk!
