Garden Birds

The Snipe that I spotted in the garden yesterday didn’t return, so while I was sat there with the camera set up I decided to take a few photos of the more common birds in the garden, those that are usually overlooked.

I think it will be a little photo assignment of mine now to get a nice photo of every species that we see in the garden here. It may take a while, but there’s no hurry. Here are a couple to start me off.

Really want to get some shots of the birds in our garden, got so many at the moment, but I can’t get anywhere near them. Keep telling Noick I need a new lens!!!

Anyway, I’m actually not all that good with birds, and we have had about half a dozen of ‘something’ in the garden all weekend. They are about the size of a fat blackbird, almost large robin shaped(?) Brown with a few spots down the front, red flashes on the wings and a yellow stripe through the eye.

Any ideas? Probably something really ordinary with it’s winter plumage. Will try to get a pic at some point.

Are they Redwings?…. I’ll post a photo of the ones we have here in the garden later…. Although I haven’t managed any good ones yet as they are pretty quick and pretty timid.
