Dyfi Enduro Training Schedule

Well, after signing up to the Dyfi Enduro a few weeks ago I had intended to do some training for it, get a little fitter on the bike and maybe loose some weight in the process.

The plan was to do at least 3 rides a week, a couple of swims, maybe some ‘core-exercises’ such as sit-ups and press-up at home and to make one of the rides a longer ride to prepare me for the event. The Dyfi Enduro is 45km (ish) off road plus quite a few more on the road so doing some longer distance rides beforehand would be useful.

All was going well, the swimming was good, I was getting quite a few rides in as well, including some longer rides and I had plenty of other rides planned. But then I came down with a ‘heart problem‘ which had me in hospital for a couple of days and then suffering with chest pains so I’ve been taking it easy since. All of which means I haven’t had a decent training session for almost two weeks. It’s driving me mad, I just want to get out there and do some training, as I feel as though I’m just sat here getting fatter, losing fitness and getting slower.

I did go for a little swim yesterday, but that hurt a bit despite taking it relatively easily. I was going to go for a ride today as well as I feel as though I need to ‘stress-test’ it to see how well I cope. But my chest is a little sore so maybe I should give it a rest for a few more days to allow it to heal properly.

I only have 5 weeks left until the Dyfi Enduro though. Just enough time to make some difference I suppose, but its going to be tough, especially if this doesn’t clear up soon.

Hope everyone elses training schedules are going better than mine.

Well, I managed short ride around the Pendam Trail yesterday. I took it easy to start with, did push it a little at times and got my heart rate up to a decent level.

I think I should take it relatively easy this week and then get back into it with a vengeance next week.

Still going OK… Managed a quick ‘core workout’ (Sit ups, Press ups and Burpees) yesterday and a night ride around the Summit Trail at Nant yr Arian.

Have a swim planned for today and then some bikle rides with Jay at the weekend.

ah, I managed to do the rheidol trail from aber and fitted in a quick blast of the summit loop round nant on the way back down the A44, one of my mates told me the enduro was 60 miles, so I’ve been pushing 40 mile rides, and only found out today that its only around 27 miles :s

hope your training’s going well still

Cool… I was out last night for a little ride, but haven’t done any long rides for a while which is a bit if a worry. My chest still hurts a bit now and then so I haven’t been able to push it at all and step up the training, but as long as I get around I’ll be happy.

I’m not sure of the exact distance but I think you’ll be looking at around 65km or 40 miles for the Enduro.

I’m hoping to get out for a ride later today somewhere and over the weekend too.

Managed a nice ride yesterday 29 miles in total and lots of climbing, but quite a bit of it was on the road so it wasn’t too tough.

Only 2 weeks to go…. Arrrrrggghhhh!!!

Damn this just makes me realise how unprepared I am for the Dyfi. I’ll try to get some 30+ mile rides in over the next 2 weeks.

Uh oh, it’s getting closer and closer!

We did do a little ride in the Dyfi Forest last night on a few of ther trails, but nothing much.

The plan on Sunday (one week before the event proper) is to have a ride around the whole Dyfi Enduro course though. Should be a few of us doing it as well.
