A day in Tywyn

We had another action packed weekend here in West Wales.

I had an early start on Saturday as Ivor (the local katabatic wind that blows down the Dyfi Valley at this time of year) was up to his tricks and Impi called around for a windsurf session at 6am. We headed off to the estuary at Ynyslas and had a good few hours blasting around on our windsurf kit. Impi has a newish board (Starboard S-Type 104) and I might get one the same so I had a quick go on that as well.. It felt pretty quick which is the whole point of a new board, but didn’t seem to get planing much earlier than my current kit… Although I’m sure it does really.

I can’t quite remember what we did for the rest of Saturday, but I’m sure we spent quite a bit of it sat on the deck in the sunshine before I went back out windsurfing in the estuary. This session was less successful as the wind dropped as soon as I got on the water and I had to swim back to shore!

Sunday started in a similar fashion with Impi calling around early and both of us heading off to the estuary to make the most of Ivor. After this Anna, Morgan and I all headed off to Tywyn in search of a new geocache called ‘I do Like to be Beside the Seaside’. We are pretty sure we got close to it, but didn’t quite manage to find the actual cache as there were too many people around, so we couldn’t have a really good hunt for it. It was a lovely day in Tywyn though with gorgeous sunshine and not too busy so we enjoyed our walk along the prom despite the ‘DNF’. We then walked back along the prom, had an ice cream and let Morgan play in a playground for a bit before heading back home for a rest.

We then treated ourselves to dinner at the Wildfowler to save us having to cook / wash up… Another great Welsh weekend.
