They are however loving the Buddleja. I think butterflies, in general, seem to have been having a great year all round. Nice photo's mate. They seem to fly off as soon as the mirror moves and therefore have gone before the photo is taken. Plenty of Small Whites about and I saw (but didn't photograph) a Peacock butterfly too. Admittedly they all have patterns composed of orange, black, white and brown, but the patterns are quite distinctive. The Tortoiseshell is easy to identify as it has black and white bands of pretty much equal size along the front of its wings. The red Admiral is very dark black, with red and white markings on the wing tips. The Painted lady is generally brownish in colour with black and white wing tips.
